Spin the Wheel

Free spin wheel online: add your options, then tap the wheel to spin.

How to spin the wheel

  1. Type your options in the box, one per line. Each line becomes a slice. To add a whole list at once, paste a column from Google Sheets, Excel or a chat, and every line is added.
  2. Tap the wheel or the Spin button to spin. On a computer, Ctrl + Enter works too.
  3. When the wheel stops, the result appears on screen with the winning slice lit up. Press Spin again, Remove from wheel to take that option off for the next spins, or Close.
  4. Every winner is saved in the History tab with its spin number and time, plus a “Most picked” tally, so you can copy it or download it as a CSV.

Every control on the wheel

ControlWhat it does
Spin / tap the wheelStarts a spin with normal strength. Ctrl + Enter (⌘ + Enter on Mac) spins from anywhere on the page, even while typing.
Chip tap / ×Tap a chip to sit it out or bring it back. The × deletes it.
Chip view / Edit as textSwitches between the text box (one entry per line, the default) and chips you can tap.
Shuffle, A→ZMixes up or sorts the slice order. This never changes anyone’s chances.
ImportReads a plain-text file line by line, or takes the left-hand column of a spreadsheet saved as CSV (a “Name” heading row is skipped).
Reset, Clear, UndoReset brings back this page’s starting list. Clear empties the wheel, and Undo restores it.
Share linkCopies a link that holds your list, title, colors and weights. Whoever opens it sees the same wheel.
Full screenShows the wheel alone, sized to the screen, for projectors and streams. Press Esc to leave.
OptionsWheel title, elimination mode, spin length, colors, sounds, confetti and weighted entries. Each one is explained below.

Wheel options explained

OptionWhat it does
Wheel titleShows a heading above the wheel, like “Who goes first?”, up to 80 characters. It stays in full screen and travels with your share link, so everyone knows what the spin is for.
After each spinKeep the result on the wheel (the default) leaves every option in for the next spin. Elimination sits each result out after it lands, so the wheel shrinks spin by spin until one is left. Sat-out entries stay in your list, crossed out, and Everyone back returns them all.
Spin lengthA slider from 1 to 15 seconds (5 by default). Short spins suit quick decisions in class; long ones build suspense for a giveaway or a stream. It changes only the animation, never the odds.
ColorsFive color sets: Arcade (bright, the default), Sunset, Ocean, Soft mint (pastels) and High contrast (black, white, yellow and blue, easiest to read on a projector or for low vision). Labels switch between dark and light text to stay readable on each slice.
SoundsThe peg clicks as the wheel turns and a chime when it stops. On by default; turn it off for a quiet room.
Confetti on each resultA short burst of confetti when the winner lands. On by default. It’s skipped automatically if your device is set to reduce motion.
Weighted entriesLets some options win more often. With it on, type Pizza x3 (or Pizza *3) and Pizza gets a slice three times wider, so it’s three times as likely. Weights go from 0.1 to 100, and the slice sizes always show the real odds.

Make a custom spin wheel

Every slice is yours to change. Delete the sample food options, then type names, chores, prizes, questions or numbers, up to 1,000 per wheel. Under Options you can give the wheel a title, choose one of five color sets, set the spin from 1 to 15 seconds, and make some slices bigger with weights. Some lists come ready-made, like the random country generator with all 199 countries and their flags.

Your custom wheel saves itself in this browser, so it’s there next time you open the page. To keep a few different wheels, copy a share link for each one. The link rebuilds that exact wheel on any device.

Need two lists spun together, like a person and a chore? The double spin wheel puts two wheels side by side and spins both with one button.

What makes this wheel spinner different

It spins like a real prize wheel. Tap it and the wheel races round, slows down and settles, with the pegs on the rim clicking past the flapper as they go.

The animation only decides how the spin looks. The winner is already decided by secure browser randomness the instant the spin starts, so nobody can time a tap to aim for a slice.

Entries can be chips, not just a text box. Switch to Chip view and tap any chip to sit it out: it stays in your list, crossed out, but leaves the wheel until you tap it again or press Everyone back. That’s quicker than deleting and retyping when someone is absent or an option is off the table tonight, which is why the random name picker for classrooms is built around it.

Elimination mode (in Options) sits out each result automatically, so you can run the wheel down to the last one standing, which works well for picking an order or a bracket. The wheel switches to chip view on its own so you can see who’s out.

Want everyone split into teams instead of one winner? The team picker wheel spins each person into one of 2 to 20 balanced groups.

Ideas for your custom wheel

  • Creative prompts: drawing subjects, story starters, karaoke songs, workout moves.

Spin the wheel app (free, works offline)

There’s nothing to download from an app store. Open this page once and the whole site is saved for offline use, so the wheel still spins on a plane, in a basement classroom or at a party with no signal. Your lists and spin log are stored on the device too.

To get an app icon, install it from your browser. On Android, use Chrome’s menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen. On iPhone or iPad, tap Safari’s Share button and choose Add to Home Screen. On a computer, click the install icon in Chrome or Edge’s address bar. It opens in its own window like a regular app and is still free.

Spin the wheel on Google vs. a custom spin wheel

Searching Google for “spinner” brings up a small built-in spinner with a fidget mode and a number mode. It’s handy for a quick number, but you can’t type your own names or options, save a list, remove winners or share the wheel. For numbers with your own range, the random number spinner goes from dice to 1–1000.

Use a custom spin wheel like this one when the choices are your own: students, players, restaurants, prizes. It spins in the browser just as quickly, needs no app, and keeps every result in the spin log.

Is the wheel fair?

Yes. When a spin starts, the winning slice is drawn with crypto.getRandomValues, the random source browsers use for encryption keys, and the animation is then steered to land inside that slice, away from its edges, so a result is never ambiguous.

With weights off, every slice is the same size and has exactly the same chance: 1 in 8 for the eight dinner options above. If you turn weights on and write Pizza x3, Pizza’s slice becomes three times wider. The odds are always the slice sizes you can see.

Two equal slices make a true coin flip. The yes or no spin wheel is built on exactly that, then adds a best-of-three scoreboard.

Questions people ask

Is the spin the wheel tool free?

Yes. Every feature is free, with no account, no sign-up and no limit on spins.

How do I spin the wheel on Google?

Search Google for “spinner” to get its built-in fidget and number spinner. To spin a wheel with your own names or options, use a custom spin wheel like SpinnWheel: type your entries and tap Spin.

Can I use it as a wheel of names?

Yes. Replace the sample options with names, typed or pasted one per line. For classes, the random name picker page starts in elimination mode so nobody is picked twice.

Can I time my tap to land on a slice?

No. The result is drawn with crypto randomness the moment the spin starts. How and when you tap only starts the animation.

How many options can the wheel hold?

Up to 1,000. Labels shrink to fit, long ones are shortened on the wheel, and the full text is shown in the result.

Is there a spin the wheel app I can use offline?

Yes. This site installs as an app from your browser menu (Install app or Add to Home Screen) and works offline after your first visit. There is nothing to download from an app store.

Will my wheel be there next time?

Yes, on the same device and browser. Your list, options and winner history are saved automatically in local storage. To move a wheel to another device, use the share link.
