How the yes or no spin wheel works

The wheel has two equal halves, Yes and No, so a single spin is a true 50/50. The scoreboard above the wheel counts every spin, and the first answer to reach two wins takes the match. Then the next spin starts a new match automatically.

Why best of three? It gives a single unlucky spin less weight, and it reveals how you really feel. If you catch yourself hoping for a rematch after “No” wins the first spin, that hope is your answer.

The odds, worked out

With two equal slices, each spin is independent. These are the chances for a full best-of-three match:

OutcomeChance
Yes wins the single spin1 in 2 (50%)
Yes wins the match 2–01 in 4 (25%)
Yes wins the match 2–11 in 4 (25%)
The match needs a third spin1 in 2 (50%)
Yes wins with “Maybe” on the wheel (single spin)1 in 3 (33.3%)

Change the answers or the odds

  • Presets: one click for Yes / No / Maybe or Do it / Don’t.
  • Your own answers: type anything, such as “Ask again tomorrow” or “Flip it to your friend”.
  • Lean the odds openly: turn on weighted entries in Options and type Yes x2. The Yes half grows to two thirds of the wheel, so everyone can see it’s a 2-to-1 spin.
  • Quick single spins: just read the first result and close the card. The scoreboard resets when you leave the page or load a preset.

When a yes or no wheel helps

Small decisions that keep coming back are the best use: order dessert, go to the gym tonight, text back now or later. Streamers use it for chat challenges, and teachers use it for quick class votes when nobody will commit.

For anything with more than two options, put them all on the main spin the wheel page instead.

Good questions for a yes or no wheel

  • Should I order dessert tonight?
  • Do we watch a movie or play a game? (Yes means movie.)
  • Is today a gym day?
  • Should the class do the bonus question?
  • Do I text them back now?

Yes or no wheel vs flipping a coin

A coin and a two-slice wheel have the same 50/50 odds. The wheel wins when you don’t have a coin, when a group needs to watch the result on one screen, or when you want a third answer like “Maybe”. It also keeps score: the History tab shows every answer, and the scoreboard tracks a best of three.

Questions people ask

How does a yes or no wheel spin work?

Half the wheel is Yes and half is No. Pressing Spin draws one half at random, so the two answers are equally likely every time.

How do I spin the wheel for yes or no?

Think of your question and press Spin, or flick the wheel. It lands on Yes or No with equal odds. Play on for a best of three if one spin isn’t enough.

Is the yes or no spinner really 50/50?

Yes. With only Yes and No on the wheel and weights switched off, both halves are the same size, so each answer comes up one time in two over the long run.

What does best of three mean here?

The scoreboard counts each spin. The first answer to win two spins wins the match, which happens after two or three spins.

Can I add Maybe?

Yes. Click the Yes / No / Maybe preset. Each answer then has a 1 in 3 chance.

Should I use a yes or no wheel for big decisions?

Use it to break a tie or reveal your gut feeling, not to replace real thinking. If you feel relieved or disappointed by the answer, that feeling is useful information.
