About SpinnWheel

A spin-the-wheel site that should feel like a real prize wheel, load fast on a school Chromebook, and keep your lists to yourself.

What we care about

  • A wheel you can trust. Every result comes from the browser’s cryptographic random generator. There are no hidden modes or secret rigging, and any extra odds have to be visible on the wheel.
  • Fun to spin. The wheel is drawn as crisp vector graphics, you can grab and flick it in either direction, and pegs click past a flapper the way they do on a game-show wheel.
  • Fast everywhere. Pages are pre-built HTML with no web fonts, so they load quickly on old phones and busy school Wi-Fi.
  • Private by default. No accounts, and your lists stay in your browser.

How the site is built

SpinnWheel is an Angular app pre-rendered to static pages and installable as an offline app. The wheel is an SVG updated directly on each animation frame, which keeps the page responsive while it spins. Every tool page explains its own controls and odds, so you know exactly what the wheel is doing.

Get in touch

Bug reports, wheel ideas and stories of how you use SpinnWheel all help shape what we build next. The contact page has the address and what to include.

How we keep the wheel fair

Every spin works the same way. When you press Spin, the result is drawn from your browser’s crypto.getRandomValues, using the slice sizes you can see. Only then does the wheel start moving, and the animation is steered to stop inside the winning slice.

You can check it yourself. Put two entries on a wheel, spin 50 times, and open the History tab: the “Most picked” tally will be close to even, and over hundreds of spins it gets closer still. Streaks of four or five in a row happen with real coins too.

Built for classrooms and slow connections

  • Keyboard friendly: every control works with Tab and Enter, and Ctrl or ⌘ + Enter spins from anywhere on a computer.
  • Screen readers: results are announced, and the wheel has a text label with its entry count.
  • Reduced motion: if your device asks for less motion, spins are shortened and confetti is skipped.
  • Offline: after one visit the site works without internet and can be installed as an app.

What we will never do

  • Add a hidden setting that picks a chosen winner.
  • Ask students to create accounts.
  • Sell or upload the names you type into a wheel.

Who we are

SpinnWheel is built and maintained by a small independent team. Each wheel is designed around a real situation, such as class turns, team stand-ups, giveaways or game nights, and each page explains exactly how that wheel works, including its odds and its limits.
